Project Partner

Rotary Club of Kathmandu West (RCKW) is a social, non-political, nonprofit charitable organization in Nepal working under the aegis of Rotary International. It is one of the most active Rotary Clubs in the RI District 3292. It was very instrumental in designing and providing low cost temporary housing made of tin sheets to the families devastated by the 2015 earthquake and was quick to establish earthquake relief distribution center in Bhaktapur, among plethora of community services it has provided. This is the seventh school RCKW is partnering with eBlackboard to establish the computer lab.

the implementation

An equipment handover ceremony was held prior to the installation. The Principal of the beneficiary school, RCKW Executive Committee members were some of the dignitaries present in the function. Six sets of Raspberry Pi computers, 19" LCD monitors, twelve headphones, and six mice were handed over to the school during the Handover Ceremony.

Ishara Shrestha-Rai, from Cannon School, Concord, North Carolina, contributed six Raspberry Pi 400 units and three 19" LCD Monitors. The RCKW contributed three more monitors along with the headphones and mice. The Raspberry Pi 400 is a versatile and compact computer integrated into a keyboard, making it an ideal choice for a portable and efficient computing solution. The principal was able to revamp their computer lab to accommodate additional computers and students. eBlackboard provided technical assistance along with SD cards containing the operating system and the education software necessary for the Raspberry Pi's.

Ishara traveled all the way to Nepal to assist in the installation process and provide brief training to some of the teachers and students on how to use the software. Each Raspberry Pi had a SD card installed with interactive digital content, locally known as 'E-Paath', which is based on the national curriculum.

The implementation was a success.
